Behavioral equivalence of hidden k-logics: An abstract algebraic approach

چکیده
This work advances a research agenda which has as its main aim the application of Abstract Algebraic Logic (AAL) methods and tools to the specification and verification of software systems. It uses a generalization of the notion of an abstract deductive system to handle multi-sorted deductive systems which differentiate visible and hidden sorts. Two main results of the paper are obtained by generalizing properties of the Leibniz congruence — the central notion in AAL. In this paper we discuss a question we posed in [2] about the relationship between the behavioral equivalences of equivalent hidden logics. We also present a necessary and sufficient intrinsic condition for two hidden logics to be equivalent.

Behavioral Reasoning in Generalized Hidden Logics
Equational logic serves as the underlying logic in many formal approaches to program specification. The algebraic data types specified in this formal way can be viewed as abstract machines on which the programs are to be run. This is one way of giving a precise algebraic semantics for programs, against which the correctness of a program can be tested. Object oriented (OO) programs, however, pre...
متن کاملBehavioral Institutions and Refinements in Generalized Hidden Logics
We investigate behavioral institutions and refinements in the context of the object oriented paradigm. The novelty of our approach is the application of generalized abstract algebraic logic theory of hidden heterogeneous deductive systems (called hid-algebraic logic theory of hidden heterogeneous deductive systems (called hidden k-logics) to the algebraic specification of object oriented progra...
متن کاملTowards Behavioral Maude: Behavioral Membership Equational Logic
How can algebraic and coalgebraic specifications be integrated? How can behavioral equivalence be addressed in an algebraic specification language? The hidden-sorted approach, originating in work of Goguen and Meseguer in the early 80’s, and further developed into the hidden-sorted logic approach by researchers at Oxford, UC San Diego, and Kanazawa offers some attractive answers, and has been i...
متن کاملBehavioral Extensions of Institutions
We show that any institution I satisfying some reasonable conditions can be transformed into another institution, Ibeh, which captures formally and abstractly the intuitions of adding support for behavioral equivalence and reasoning to an existing, particular algebraic framework. We call our transformation an “extension” because Ibeh has the same sentences as I and because its entailment relati...
متن کاملStrong Equivalence of Nonmonotonic Theories -- an Algebraic Approach
We show that the concept of strong equivalence of logic programs can be generalized to an abstract algebraic setting of operators on complete lattices. Our results imply characterizations of strong equivalence for several nonmonotonic logics including logic programming with aggregates, default logic and a version of autoepistemic logic.
